Although we mainly work rather than trial our dogs, the Ruadth Kennel's bloodlines have produced, Champions, trial winners and award winners all over the world - also test winners; obedience winners and top quality show winners.
By the creative and selective use of line breeding to the top UK Field Trial Champion lines the Ruadth kennel plans to produce real gundogs that are typical of their breeds. That is to say, dogs that clearly meet the breed standard, are as free as possible of hereditary diseases and which would not be disgraced in the showring, but whose primary function is top quality work. Without compromising at all on working ability, we believe it is possible to breed the type of gundogs that were exhibited at the first dog shows - good looking breed typical working dogs. We breed golden retrievers that are REAL GOLDEN and REAL RETRIEVERS. There can be no finer recommendation for our breeding programme than to say we only breed when we want a pup ourselves out of a particular mating. AT STUD
PEDIGREE ALDER
PEDIGREE PIP
Virtually all the top UK FT trial lines have been incorporated into the breeding programmes for our golden retrievers and Alder also carries the old Irish lines being probably the closest living relative of the legendary David of Westley and also having links to excellent dogs such as Irish FT Ch Stubblesdown Vanda. Although nearly 12 years of age he is an extremely fit and good looking working dog. He was the only light golden dog in a dark litter and all of his offspring to date have been dark. Holway Serena of Ruadth ( Pip) was selected from the last litter bred by June Atkinson to re-establish a bitch line. She is a full sister to Graham Cox’s FTCh Holway Martina of Wydcombe and although not trialled is fully trained and an excellent gundog. It would be our intention to breed from Pip in her next season. |
